‘Fictionable Worlds’ at SNHU’s McIninch Gallery

Thursday, Mar. 18
5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The McIninch Art Gallery at Southern New Hampshire University will present “Fictionable Worlds” from March 4 through April 3. An opening reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, in Robert Frost Hall.

This exhibit is part of an investigation of the role of place in contemporary world literature. It explores the intersections of the writer’s imagination, the text and the world of the reader. A select body of work yielded from collaboration between students and professors of SNHU’s literature and graphic design programs illustrate this theme.

Students in the undergraduate and M.F.A. in creative writing programs submitted prose, poetry, songs and short stories that were considered to be visual in content. Students in the graphic design program selected text that they wanted to respond to, creating their own visual interpretation of the writer’s work. The art in some cases capture a literal interpretation or evokes a feeling or thought derived from the content. Included in the written work are pieces from Master of Fine Arts in fiction and nonfiction faculty and students that have been published or are in the process of being published.

The McIninch Art Gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The gallery is closed on Sundays. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
