Learn the language of acrylic mediums with Liquitex’s artist-in-residence Jimmy Leslie. In this one-day workshop you will discover over 20 different acrylic mediums offered by Liquitex that change the consistency of acrylic paint, impacting on the flow, the texture, the drying rate, and the sheen of paintings. Jimmy will introduce the history of acrylic paints and mediums, explaining what acrylic mediums can do and how they can be effectively used. Jimmy will present a variety of traditional applications, as well as non-traditional/abstract concepts. A significant amount of this workshop will be hands-on so that people can feel for themselves what acrylics and acrylic mediums are capable of doing. Jimmy will also discuss the virtues of varnishing with acrylics, studio safety, and field questions and answers throughout. Students will be given a free sample bag of Liquitex paints and mediums valued at $40 to take home at the end of the workshop! Teens and adults are invited to participate. This workshop is generously sponsored by Liquitex and the Art Center. All proceeds will support the scholarship fund of the Art Center.
